Akufo-Addo government’s deceit and incompetence evident in their dishonesty about Dumsor

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised critical questions about the recent power outages (Dumsor) experienced by Ghanaians. He has challenged the basis of these outages, given that the previous Mahama administration had invested in sufficient power generation plants, including the Ameri thermal plant. Dr. Boamah has accused the current government of being ‘deceitful’ or Akufo-Addo government’s deceit and ‘incompetent’ in their handling of the power situation, and has questioned their truthfulness about the causes of Dumsor.

In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah addressed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) and Dr. Bawumia, asking if the power outages were a result of “Power Diabetes” – a situation where power is abundant, but homes and businesses are lacking access to it. He referenced a statement by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) that transformers are not the cause of the current power outages, and demanded to know what justification the government has for plunging Ghana into Dumsor, despite the availability of sufficient power generation plants.

Dr. Boamah also criticized the government for lying about paying for excess power and blaming the Mahama administration for it, asking “Where is the excess power? Excess power indeed!” He concluded by labeling the government as “Liars” and implying that Ghanaians should be holding them accountable for their actions. His statement highlights the ongoing debate and tensions between the NDC and the current government over issues of power generation and management. Dr. Boamah’s comments have sparked a lively discussion on social media, with many Ghanaians sharing their own experiences with power outages and calling for greater transparency and accountability from the government.
