Tobinco Pharmaceutical Training Institute graduates 1st batch of Medicine Counter Assistants students
Tobinco Pharmaceutical Training Institute (TPTI), a subsidiary of the Tobinco Group of Companies has honored its first batch of graduands who passed out successfully upon completion of a six-month course in Medicine Counter Assistants.
The Medicine Counter Assistants course is accredited by the Ghana Pharmacy Council and provides the minimum training requirements for pharmacy support staff working behind the counter.
The colorful ceremony came down at the forecourts of the Dor Events Annex situated at North Kaneshie, a suburb of Accra on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
It brought together the crème de la crème of the society, some notable officials working in the healthcare as well as the pharmaceutical industry including staff of the Tobinco Group of Companies
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Cynthia Yeboah Mintah, a pharmacist charged the graduands to always endeavor to uphold honesty, integrity and truth in performance of their duties as medical counter assistants at all times.
She cautioned against indecent dressing behavior and quickly appealed to them to always ensure proper wearing of uniforms at all times while discharging their duties for easy identification.
While lauding the graduands for their tireless efforts leading to the successful completion of the course, she encouraged them not to rest on their laurels but always strive hard to further pursue their studies to a higher height.
Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, Head of Corporate Affairs, Tobinco Group of Companies in a speech read on behalf of Nana Samuel Amo Tobin I, the Chief Executive Officer of Tobinco Group of Companies praised the graduands for demonstrating excellence towards completion of their course.
The CEO appealed to the graduands to exude transparency, honesty and truthfulness in their dealings with the public at all times in order to uphold the school’s image in high esteem and above all become a shining example to others in practice.
For his part, the Administrator of the Tobinco Pharmaceutical Training Institute, Isaac Kwabena Opare Yeboah advised the graduating class to always endeavor to make learning a habit in their chosen fields of career in order to become advanced.
“Graduation isn’t the end of the journey, it is the beginning of a beautiful world that lies ahead. Remember, learning every day is ultimately the key to success. Don’t ever stop learning, dreaming and achieving through your journey”.
He disclosed that the institute has already provided full employment opportunities for 20 of the graduates as marketers and sales representatives within the Tobinco Pharmaceutical Company who are expected to commence service in October 2021.
Touching on the MCA course outline in an interview, Mr. Opare explained: “The course is a certificate program which runs for a period of six months after which certificates are awarded by the Pharmacy Council. The program is scheduled in two parts. We do the first 3 months of theory in class, then the students proceed to the field to work in business owners’ pharmacy. After 3 months, they come back and write the pharmacy council examination”.
When asked in his estimation what the public should look out for from TBTI in the near future, he quickly noted that he expected members of the general public to turn their eyes on the Institute for their specialized training needs in the field of Medicine Counter Assistants where job opportunities are even guaranteed upon completion of the course.
“We are not like other MCA’s schools who train and you’re off to go and look for a job yourself. Ours is different. We have the facilities, we have the pharmacies, we have the hostels, we have a lot of employment opportunities here that when you join us, I believe you’ll not go back home and look at your certificate in your bedroom and wonder the next issue”, Mr. Opare stressed.
Tobinco Pharmaceutical Training Institute (TPTI) began operation in February 2020, barely a month after the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic in Ghana which led to a partial shutdown after the President announced the 3-week lockdown. However, classes were resumed successfully in October 2020 and everything went on gradually till the passing out of the first batch of its graduates.
The highpoint of the event was when certificates were presented to 66 of the graduates out of 69 who passed out with flying colors. Some graduates including teachers who excelled during the 6-months course were recognized. The most outstanding male student of the year award went to Mr. Oscar Quarshie while Anita Machison Ofosua was adjudged the most outstanding female student.
Some appreciation also came in from the graduating class to some deserving school administrators and teachers alike for their immense support throughout their period of stay in school.
