Ghana Post unveils Otumfuo
A commemorative postage stamp featuring the iconic portrait of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the legendary Asantehene, has been presented by Ghana Post.
The Ministry of Communication and Digitization reaffirmed its commitment to using digital technology to enhance and save the nation’s historical narrative so that everyone can access and enjoy it.

The Ministry will make sure that the wealth of Ghana’s history is not lost but rather enhanced by the means of contemporary technology through innovative projects that digitize and spread our collective heritage.
At the unveiling of the Otumfour commemorative stamps at Manhyia Palace, the sector minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, stated that the stamps are a symbol of Ghana’s commitment to preserving its rich heritage and making it accessible to all citizens and visitors from across the world.

The action was taken in observance of the Asantehene’s silver jubilee.
The commemorative stamps are effective tools for honoring and remembering notable historical figures.
“They are more than just postal stamps; they are representations of historical appreciation and cultural memory.
“The stamps will commemorate the outstanding contributions of Asantehene of the Asante Kingdom and Ghana overall, as well as serve as a symbol of his legacy for future generations.”
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful urged Ghanaians to let this stamp and our continuing digital projects to serve as a reminder to everyone that, although having a deep and rich history, we are firmly focused on the future.
She declared that it is time for us to honor the enduring legacy of a visionary leader who had a profound effect on our country.
For Otumfour Agyemang Prempeh and Otumfour Opoku Ware, they took this action. Thus, this commemorative stamp reflects our sense of pride and identity as a country.
It reminds us of the connection between our traditional beliefs and our contemporary goals,reminding us that the future of our country is based on our rich cultural legacy,” she remarked.
She added that Asantehene’s 25-year rule has demonstrated his “unwavering commitment to preserving our cultural heritage, promoting education, and uplifting the socio-economic wellbeing of our people.”
“I dare say that in the last [25] years, no key decision has been made by any of our leaders without the involvement of Asantehene,” she said.
According to Bice Osei-Kuffour, the Managing Director of Ghana Post, the organization takes great delight in playing a vital role in fostering cultural expression and national connectivity.
He restated their dedication to excellence and creativity in telling the nation’s tales and presenting them to the global audience.
“The stamps serve as a link between generations and a reminder of the Asante Kingdom’s enduring legacy.
It perfectly captures Ghana Post’s commitment to honoring Ghana’s rich history and making sure that it is respected both domestically and internationally.
Eight of the twelve stamps that we unveiled are unique. Along with other things, we also unveiled postal stamps, crypto stamps, and Otumfuo mementos,” he said.

Dasebre Osei Bonsu, the Mampong Hene, expressed gratitude to Ghana Post for their efforts. He declared that the Kingdom would always be grateful for this and would never forget it.
“Our King is kind, , considerate, and takes into account everyone’s opinions while making decisions. He stated that rather than acting in a dictatorial manner, he always seeks the appropriate input before making decisions.
