A suspect on a recent flight attempted to disembark in Cote D’Ivoire without a transit visa, claiming he wanted to smoke. However, he was persuaded not to exit the plane. Instead, he went to the washroom, where it is believed he smoked anyway. Although the plane’s smoke alarms did not go off, the strong smell of tobacco filled the air. When he returned to his seat, his co-passenger warned him that his actions were against public safety rules, but he ignored this advice and went back to the washroom, raising suspicions that he may have tampered with the smoke alarm.

As a result, the flight crew had to conduct a thorough investigation, causing a significant delay for all passengers on board. The suspect was eventually handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further questioning and action.
This incident highlights the importance of following safety rules and regulations on flights. Smoking on a plane is strictly prohibited due to the risk of fire and the potential for harm to all passengers and crew on board. The fact that the suspect attempted to do so despite being warned, and may have even tampered with the smoke alarm, is a serious concern.
The swift action taken by the flight crew and the Ghana Police Service is commendable, and it is hoped that this incident will serve as a deterrent to others who may consider disregarding safety rules in the future. The safety of all passengers and crew on flights must be prioritized, and any actions that compromise this safety will not be tolerated

The incident also raises questions about the effectiveness of smoke alarms on planes and the need for additional safety measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. It is crucial that airlines and aviation authorities take steps to ensure that all safety protocols are in place and that passengers are aware of the rules and regulations in place to protect everyone on board.
In conclusion, the actions of the suspect on this flight were reckless and put the safety of all passengers and crew at risk. The swift action taken by the flight crew and the Ghana Police Service is commendable, and it is hoped that this incident will serve as a warning to others who may consider disregarding safety rules in the future.
