Ghana Tourism Authority Savannah Regional Office Hosts Health Walk for National Chocolate Week Celebration
In a delightful fusion of wellness and celebration, the Savannah regional office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) recently organized a health walk on Saturday, February 17, as part of the National Chocolate Week festivities at the iconic Larabanga Mosque near Damongo in the Western Gonja District of the Northern Region.
Under the theme “Eat Chocolate, Stay Healthy, Grow Ghana,” with the sub-theme “Explore Ghana, Eat Chocolate,” the nineteenth National Chocolate Week celebration aimed to redefine the narrative of Valentine’s Day in Ghana by spotlighting chocolate as a symbol of love and advocating for the increased consumption of locally-produced Ghanaian chocolate.
The event not only sought to promote the health benefits of chocolate but also to boost domestic tourism, foster social cohesion, facilitate networking opportunities, and create employment prospects, particularly for the youth.
During the walk, Mr. Ken Ateere, the Marketing Officer at the Savannah Regional GTA, delivered an enlightening speech on behalf of Mr. Kwasi Frimpong, the Savannah Regional Director, emphasizing the various health advantages of consuming chocolate.
From lowering blood pressure to preventing liver damage, maintaining heart health, and enhancing cognitive function, chocolate emerged as a powerful ally in promoting overall well-being.
Encouraging both tourists and locals to indulge in cocoa-related products, including the delectable Choco pebbles, Ateere highlighted the numerous health benefits that these treats offer to the body and mind, urging everyone to savor the goodness of Ghanaian chocolate.
As part of the celebration, cocoa-related products were distributed to students and community members, adding a touch of sweetness and vitality to the National Chocolate Week festivities.
