A 54-Year-Old Farmer Shot Dead Over Cocoa Farm

A 54-year-old farmer whose name has been given as Kofi Asare has been shot dead over a dispute relating to the ownership of a cocoa farm.

One Joshua Baidoo, a 37-year-old man alleged to be the suspect has been picked by the Ghana Police Service for interrogations and investigations into the case.

Both the deceased and the suspect are residents of Assin Nuanua Fantse, a suburb located in the Assin South District.

According to information available to Ghana24.org, a disagreement ensued between the two over part of land after the co-owner’s demise.

Narrating what has been the bone of contention between the two, the sister of the deceased, Agnes Nkrumah, disclosed that the deceased and another person who had passed on earlier owned a farm together. The suspected person (Joshua Baidoo), a brother of the former part-owner, insisted on taking over the farm.

The 54-Year-Old Farmer shot dead opposed the idea and decided to transfers the part owned by his previous partner to the surviving spouse and children of the deceased partner.

However, he was later shot in the early hours of Friday, July 23 while on inspection duties in the cocoa farm.
