The meeting, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 1400 hours, aims to discuss the modalities of the intended demonstration and address concerns and establish guidelines for the protest.
In a statement released on May 9, Yvonne Nelson formally informed the Ghana Police Service of the impending demonstration. The announcement included details for the vigil, which is set to happen on May 25 in Revolution Square.
It will start at 8:30 am and end at midnight. The statement expressed dissatisfaction with the unsatisfactory state of the power supply and mentioned plans to provide the president proof of the crippling effects of “dumsor.”

This project is in response to Yvonne Nelson’s appeal for Ghanaians to unite in her campaign against the recent, unpredictable power outages.
The protest is reminiscent to ones that Yvonne and other celebrities staged in 2015 to protest frequent power shortages. The purpose of the planned vigil is to increase public awareness of the negative consequences of Ghana’s persistent power supply issues, which have left many residents inconvenient and have cost them money.
In order to address the issue of “dumsor,” Yvonne Nelson hopes that the upcoming demonstration will be widely attended and that the public will support her efforts.
To ensure a successful and nonviolent demonstration, engaging with the Regional Police Command is an essential first step.
The organizers can cooperate with the authorities to guarantee a secure and successful demonstration that raises awareness of the urgent problem of unstable power supplies.

Both groups will have the chance to talk about plans for security, logistics, and any issues that might come up during the demonstration during this meeting.
It is crucial that all parties involved stay dedicated to engaging in a peaceful and productive manner as the demonstration draws near.
The “dumsor” vigil is a call to action for the government and other necessary authorities to address the long-standing problems with the nation’s electricity supply.
Ghanaians can demand improved services and raise their voices by uniting and taking collective action.
The meeting with the Regional Police Command is a positive step towards achieving this goal. By working together, citizens can hold the government and relevant authorities accountable for addressing the power supply challenges that have plagued the nation.
