Approximately 30 graduate students of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) will be recruited as research assistants for the evaluation of the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE), the Management of UEW has said.

The recruitment comes after the team of the University of Education staff won a competitive research grant to access the national teacher licensure examination conducted by the National Teaching Council (NTC) twice every year.

Explaining the research grant, a member of the team said they would be undertaking a nationwide study to evaluate the GTLE against its original purpose, identify emerging challenges and make recommendations for improvement.

He indicated that the research team would recruit only 30 graduate students of the University of Education (UEW) as research assistants to support the GTLE project to enable them to develop and refine their research skills.

The Vice-Chancellor of UEW Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni commending the lecturers for winning the grant competition said they have made the Education university proud adding it contributes to UEW success.

“I can see my efforts at championing the course to upgrade the Externally Funded Projects Office (EFPO) to the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID) is beginning to yield dividends,” Rev. Afful-Broni said.

The Vice-Chancellor in a short address expressed confidence in the UEW research team and affirmed that the feat is a testament to the calibre of competitive scholars at the University, who would excel anywhere in the world.

The team is led by Prof Samuel Asare Amoah are from the Faculty of Educational Studies, the Institute of Educational Research and Innovation Studies (IERIS) and the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development (DRID).

They comprises Professor Asare Amoah (Department of Educational Foundations), Dr Emmanuel Tamanja (IERIS), Dr Edmond Agyeman (Director, DRID), Dr Patricia Amos (Head, Department of Counselling Psychology).
