Roads Minister responds to traffic chaos in SCC, Kasoa, Weija environs
The government’s unwavering dedication to finding solutions to the severe traffic congestion and flooding issues at the SCC and Kasoa Tollbooth locations has been underscored by Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways. In response to Adom News’ report that flooding at the two locations had left over five vehicles stranded, Asenso-Boakye and a team of engineers visited the affected areas to conduct a thorough assessment of the situation.
During his visit, the minister acknowledged the significant hardship faced by commuters and drivers, with some reporting travel times of six to eight hours to reach their destinations. He reassured them that the government is working tirelessly with other state authorities to address the issues. The Ministry of Works and Housing has dispatched engineers to evaluate the situation and identify the root causes of the floods, the Minister of Roads revealed.

Preliminary reports indicate that the NI corridor has experienced substantial siltation due to heavy rainfall, rendering the road inaccessible and extremely congested. Ga South Municipal Assembly engineer Daniel Sowah attributed part of the problem to local residents constructing buildings at the top of the hill, exacerbating the flooding. To prevent similar situations in the future, the Assembly will engage with the community, emphasizing the importance of collective action.
Asenso-Boakye assured the public that the government is committed to resolving the flooding and traffic problems in the long term, despite the challenges posed by funding constraints. He emphasized that the government is dedicated to finding lasting solutions to the issues, which have significant economic and social implications.
