FWSC boss tells leaders of pre-tertiary unions to call their members to order
The national leadership of the pre-tertiary teacher unions has been urged by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to bring their restless members to order.
The Commission claims that the teachers’ ongoing protests violate the deal that their leaders and the administration negotiated.
On May 7, 2024, in an exclusive interview with our labor journalist Daniel Opoku in Accra, Ben Arthur, the Chief Executive Officer of the FWSC, made the call.
According to Mr. Arthur, the Commission has already made a decision regarding the majority of the teacher demands.
It says a lot when regional executives take the stage and state such a thing on my behalf. They are essentially weakening their leadership in the country, and with the remaining elements, I have no doubt that we will reach a mutually agreeable resolution.

I’ve always maintained that those who have used strikes to try to address their problems have never gotten the finest treatment,” he declared.
He continued, saying that “the government, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the employees themselves cannot go into every classroom and teach.” We have one interest, and that is to advance our nation. In my opinion, their national executives ought to address their supporters publicly regarding the conclusion of our most recent meeting.
