Medikal defends decision to perform with Sister Derby

Rapper Medikal from Ghana has addressed backlash against him for doing a stage show alongside his ex-girlfriend Sister Derby at his most recent 02 Indigo event in London.

In the midst of rumors of issues in his marriage to actress Fella Makafui, Medikal made the decision.

In an interview with Accra-based UTV, Medikal made it clear that his goal was to perform a well-known song they had both contributed to live for his beloved followers.

He emphasized that the intention of the show was to provide fans a better live concert experience, particularly for those who had never seen a live performance of the song and had only heard it through his music videos and Snapchat account.

As mentioned, the entire situation is only for fun and is not meant as retaliation against Fella Makafui.

“I wanted people to feel a live performance of what they watch on my Snapchat and in my music videos,” Medikal said. “She is someone I have a song with, a song people know about.”

That’s what it is, nothing new, then. I had no intention of proving anything. All I wanted was to enjoy myself and give my fans an amazing experience. This was merely fun; I don’t mean to offend anyone,” he stated on United Showbiz on May 4.

Despite his defense, a number of critics have referred to his actions as disrespectful to his ex-wife and claimed that the public performance with Sister Derby was inappropriate given the present circumstances involving Fella Makafui.

As for the alleged dissolution of his marriage, Medikal insisted that the success of the occasion, not his split from Fella, his ex-wife, should be the subject of conversation.
