One of the vocal Members of Parliament championing efforts of Ghana to ensure LGBTQ+ does not see the light of day in Ghana, Hon. Sam Gorge representing the Ningo Prampram in Parliament has applauded what he deems an important clause in Ghana’s anti-gay bill that is being considered by parliament.
He said although Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill is only at the draft stage, it is detailed and contains a clause that will ban LGBTQ+ couples from attempting to adopt or foster children in Ghana.

“If your way does not support procreation, who should procreate for you to adopt?” The Ningo Prampram MP quizzed during a meeting held in Parliament on Saturday, July 24.
The MP has applauded the strong leadership of the Speaker of Parliament on the issue and gave the speaker’s strict response to the Australian ambassador, Gregory Andrews. In April 2021, Gregory Andrews called on Ghana to stop pursuing the idea of banning same-sex relationships in the country.
Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill is currently a 36-page document. It is a private Member’s bill titled “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, Bill 2021”
All the cultures and ethnic groups in Ghana frown on LGBTQ+ including the three (Christianity, Islam, and African Traditional Region) main religions of Ghana.
The bill to ensure LGBTQ+ is made illegal by the statutes of the country is led by Hon. Sam Gorge and seven other MPs in Ghana’s parliament.

The Anti-LGBTQ+ bill will be laid before parliament soon. It is one of the bills that is expected to have the popular support of teeming Ghanaians across the political divide, social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Once the bill is laid before parliament, it will be handed over to an appropriate committee for consideration. The Ningo Prampram MP on Saturday 24th July defending the need for the bill on social media and gave moral and cultural values and reasons for which the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill must be adopted for the people of Ghana.
