Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill : You can’t threaten us in our country – Gbagbin, the Speaker of Ghana’s parliament, to Diplomats who are pushing the LGBTQ in Ghana.
The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament Alban Gbagbin has sent a strong warning to diplomats and other persons threatening MPs over Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+Bill.
He said that Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+Bill which seeks to criminalize same-sex relationships all other related variants will get the approval of parliament and be passed into law for the people of Ghana.
He added that the people of Ghana will not be threatened or intimidated.
“We will not threaten anybody but we shall also not be threatened. Those threatening Members of Parliament who are leading this bill, please be warned.
We cannot be threatened in our homes, this must be stated loud and clear to those who come to do business in Ghana. Those who represent their countries and think that they are right, we also represent our country”, He said.
Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill has generated so much interest and attempts to stop it from being passed into law although it is at the draft stage.
The Ghanaian parliament according to the Speaker of Parliament will pass the bill into law in record time.
The speaker of parliament was specific when he mentioned diplomats who want to dictate to the country as to how Ghanaians live their lives in their own home country.
“And they (Diplomats )will never, they can never dictate to us as to how to live or not to live in this world. And I am very clear in my mind that this house, the parliament of Ghana will pass this bill as soon as possible” the speaker stressed.
The Speaker of Parliament in April while meeting the Australian Ambassador disclosed that the people of Ghana will pass laws aimed at preserving the norms and culture of the Ghanaian people. When the LGBTQ+ office was made operational in Accra, the Australian ambassador, Gregory Andrews, and the European Union representative in the country were present.
Gbagbin, Speaker of Ghana’s parliament has indicated that Ghana will not pass laws that infringe on the Human Rights of people but will also pass laws aimed at preserving the cultures and traditions of the people. He described the acts of the LGBTQ+ as an abomination.
Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill is currently a 36-page document. It is a private Member’s bill titled “The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, Bill 2021”

Hon. Sam Gorge representing the Ningo Prampram in Parliament and other parliamentarians is leading the crusade to ensure Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill which is at the draft stage becomes law in Ghana.

During discussions on the subject matter, he said “If your way does not support procreation, who should procreate for you to adopt?” thus referring to proponents of the LGBTQ+ and LGBTQ+ couples.
