NDC should be careful in upcoming elections – Franklin Cudjoe on SALL controversy
NDC should be careful in elections
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been advised to exercise prudence in the impending general elections of 2024 by IMANI-Africa President Franklin Cudjoe.
He said that if the NDC wins the 2024 local parliamentary election and things don’t work out for them, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) might argue that there were problems with the Guan Constituency’s formation.

“The NDC needs to exercise caution as I am aware that this is their stronghold. I’ve informed Fred Agbenyo that he will regret it. He might win the seat, but the NPP will subtly point out that the procedures that led to the establishment of the entire situation were flawed and that he will lose the seat.
The President of IMANI-Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, recently made accusations against the Electoral Commission (EC), claiming that it disenfranchised the people of Santrokofi, Apkafu, Lolobi, and Lipke (SALL) from voting in the 2020 Parliamentary elections. However, the EC has categorically dismissed these accusations, labeling them as “false and without basis.”
In a statement released on Tuesday, May 14, the EC clarified that it followed all legal procedures in the creation of the newly established Guan Constituency, which encompasses the SALL area. The Commission emphasized that it did not disenfranchise any residents in the process, contrary to IMANI’s claims.

The EC expressed disappointment that IMANI continues to spread falsehoods and untruths about the Commission, urging the public to verify information put out by IMANI with the Commission for accuracy and truth. The EC’s statement emphasized that it is not in their interest to disenfranchise any citizens, and they are committed to upholding the democratic rights of all Ghanaians.
It is essential to rely on credible sources of information and fact-check claims before accepting them as true. The EC’s clarification provides a clear understanding of the situation, and it is crucial to trust the official statement from the Commission rather than relying on unsubstantiated accusations from IMANI.
In conclusion, the EC’s response has set the record straight, and it is evident that IMANI’s accusations were unfounded. The public should be cautious of misinformation and verify information through credible channels to avoid spreading falsehoods. The EC’s commitment to upholding democratic rights and following legal procedures is reassuring, and we must trust the official narrative in this case.
Speaking on the program, however, Mr. Cudjoe forewarned the NDC that the party’s parliamentary candidate might not win in the general elections scheduled for December 2024.
The NDC ought to pay close attention and communicate with the party’s top attorneys. I’ve talked to a number of people, even lawyers outside; they should exercise caution since this is a massive trap.
“SALL Traditional Areas were mentioned in the schedule when they even built the so-called district. The other districts they established were appropriately designated districts, but these individuals referred to them as SALL Traditional Areas.
It indicates that as of right now, C.I. remains unchanged, and the EC is continuing to inform and reassure the public. Mr. Cudjoe asserted, “I don’t trust anything the frontlines of the EC tell me going forward; they disenfranchised SALL.
Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI-Africa, has recommended the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the upcoming general elections of 2024 with caution.
The NPP, which is currently in power, might claim that issues with the Guan Constituency’s establishment existed if the NDC wins the 2024 local parliamentary election and things don’t work out for them. “Given that this is the NDC’s stronghold, they should proceed with caution.” I’ve told Fred Agbenyo he’s going to regret it.
Even if he does win, the NPP will quietly highlight the flaws in the processes that lead to the creation of this whole mess and assure him that he will not win.
