Sam George’s LGBTQ+ post reported to Twitter, receives email
Hours after Hon. Sam George’s crusade to ensure Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ bill gets passed into law, he has received an email from Twitter.
Ghana’s Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill seems to be making much more uncomfortable, however, the Speaker of Parliament Alban Gbagbin has also indicated that parliament was going to speed up the bill into law. He further asked diplomats not to determine how Ghanaians should live in their own country.
Sam George’s LGBTQ+ post and Twitter Email
Apparently, persons who are not excited about his comment that Ghana was going to criminalize same-sex relationships reported him to Twitter.
Those who reported him to Twitter see his comments as hateful.
However, a screenshot of an email from the American microblogging and social networking service to the legislator shows that no action will not be taken against him.
Hon. Sam George trended on Saturday, July 24 as a result of him responding to persons who opposed his views on the need for the parliament of Ghana to pass the LGBTQ+ bill to criminalize same-sex relationships.
A number of comments from Twitter users after his initial comment that: “We are opened to intellectual criticisms or criticisms and suggestions grounded in law. Emotional outbursts, emotional comments have no place in legislation. If anybody has intellectual suggestions or addition, we are willing to debate the issue,”
In another twitter, the MP for Ningo Prampram stated that “I have been overwhelmed by the massive support even here on a very ‘liberal’ platform like Twitter for our Bill on the LGBTQI+ menace. Homosexuality is NOT a human right. It is a sexual preference. Preferences are not absolute or unregulated. We SHALL pass this Bill through.”
This led to an official report being lodged against his account and activities on Twitter. Whiles those who reported were expected more hash action from Twitter, it however turned out that his comment did not in any way break the Twitter community guidelines.

The message from Twitter in response to the report of his activities read.
“We have investigated the reported content and have found that it is not subject to removal under the Twitter Rules or German Law. Accordingly, we have not taken any action as a result of this specific report,”
He shared the screen short with the caption “So they want us to accept their perversion but cannot accept our opinion of their perversion. Thankfully the folks at Twitter apply some common sense and logic.”
At the time of this publication, the reported tweet was no longer on his account.
Sam George and seven other MPs have been making a case for ‘The Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values, Bill 2021’ to be passed.

Members of parliament championing this bill against the LGBTQ+ are Emmanuel Bedzrah (Ho West MP), Della Adjoa Sowah (MP for Kpando), John Ntim Fordjour (MP for Assin South), Alhassan by Suhuyini (MP for Tamale North), Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (MP for La Dadekotopon), Helen Adjoa Ntoso (MP for Krachi West) and Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor (MP for South Dayi).
Sam George’s LGBTQ+ post and Ghana’s quest to criminalize same-sex relationship is expected to attract more debate in the coming weeks.
