A Dambai Magistrate Court has remanded Ibrahim Anas, a 42-year-old man, into prison for inflicting multiple cutlass wounds on his pregnant wife. Anas will next appear before the court on June 14, 2024, at Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region. According to Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector S.K. Gavor, the suspect attacked his wife on May 28, 2024, on their farm in Banda, Krachi Nchumuru District. The Police received a distressed call at around 0800 hours and arrived at the scene to find the victim in a pool of blood, with multiple deep cutlass cuts on her stomach, forehead, mouth, shoulder, and hands. The severity of the injuries was alarming, and the victim was rushed to Banda Health Centre for intensive care. Due to the gravity of her condition, she was later referred to Kpandai Polyclinic in the Northern region for further treatment.

The suspect was apprehended and taken to the Police station, where he admitted to committing the crime in his caution statement. Anas claimed that he was influenced by “Satan and his fallen angels” to carry out the attack.
