Ignore Cudjoe’s false narrative – EC
The President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has accused the Electoral Commission of purposefully depriving the people of their right to vote in the Guan constituency (SALL).
The Commission has responded by urging the public to disregard what it regards as a false story.
The Commission claims that Mr. Cudjoe’s reference to the EC’s statement from December 6, 2020, accusing the Commission of preventing SALL residents from exercising their right to vote in the 2020 parliamentary elections, is deceptive.
Informing the public and SALL residents that “voters in Guan District could not vote for an MP in the Beum Constituency, which falls under the Jasikan District,” was part of EC’s constitutional role, according to the statement.

Franklin Cudjoe attacked the Electoral Commission (EC), accusing it of denying SALL citizens their right to vote by failing to take sufficient steps to guarantee their involvement in the electoral process.
The EC’s declaration dated December 6, 2020, which stated that “voters in the SALL Traditional Areas were excluded from voting in the election for a Member of Parliament was a flagrant violation of the said voters’ right to vote, which amounts to disenfranchised,” served as the foundation for his argument.
However, EC denied Mr. Cudjoe’s accusations once more in a statement signed by Michael Boadu, Acting Director of Public Affairs, stating that it is not in the Commission’s best interest to deny any citizen their right to vote. Furthermore, the Commission stated that it neither established nor maintains the calendar of parliament.
The general public is once again asked to disregard Franklin Cudjoe’s campaign, which spreads the untrue story that SALL voters were denied the right to vote in 2020 by the Electoral Commission.
“As we mentioned in our earlier statement, the Commission does not wish to deny any citizen their right to vote.
The Electoral Commission, which only carried out its constitutional obligations after the Guan District was established, is not to blame. Based on the information presented above, the perceptive public may determine the truth for themselves.
“The President of Imani made false and baseless claims that the Electoral Commission disenfranchised voters in the Guan Constituency (SALL).
The Electoral Commission has expressed its disappointment and concern over Franklin Cudjoe’s persistent dissemination of misinformation to the public. Despite the Commission’s clear and documented refutation of his claims, Mr. Cudjoe continues to reference a public statement issued by the Electoral Commission, which has been proven to be false and misleading.
On May 15, 2024, the Commission released a comprehensive press statement, accompanied by supporting documents, which categorically disputed the accusations made by Franklin Cudjoe, the President of Imani. The statement and documents provided a detailed account of the events surrounding the Guan Constituency (SALL) and unequivocally demonstrated that the Commission did not disenfranchise any voters.

It is perplexing that Mr. Cudjoe has chosen to ignore the facts and continues to spread misinformation, which has the potential to undermine the integrity of the electoral process and cause unnecessary confusion among the public. The Electoral Commission’s commitment to transparency and accountability is evident in its willingness to provide documentation and evidence to support its position.
In contrast, Franklin Cudjoe’s actions raise concerns about his motives and credibility. His persistent dissemination of false information is not only misleading but also has the potential to erode trust in the electoral process. It is essential for the public to be aware of the accurate information and not be swayed by misleading statements.
The Electoral Commission’s efforts to set the record straight and provide clarity on this matter are crucial in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and upholding the trust of the public. The Commission’s statement and supporting documents provide a clear and factual account of the events surrounding the Guan Constituency (SALL), and it is essential to rely on credible sources of information and fact-check claims before accepting them as true.
In conclusion, the Electoral Commission’s statement and supporting documents provide a clear and factual account of the events surrounding the Guan Constituency (SALL). Franklin Cudjoe’s continued spread of misinformation is misleading and undermines the integrity of the electoral process. The public must be aware of the accurate information and not be swayed by misleading statements. The Electoral Commission remains committed to transparency and accountability, and its efforts to provide clarity on this matter are essential in maintaining the trust of the public.
