HRRG Raises Alarm, Demands Justice for JoyNews Reporter Latif Iddrisu After Unprovoked Attack

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) has publicly joined the chorus of voices demanding swift justice and enhanced protection for journalist Latif Iddrisu of JoyNews, following an unprovoked assault at the EOCO headquarters in Accra.

The organization condemns the attack in the strongest terms, asserting that it represents a direct assault on press freedom and the fundamental rights of journalists to operate safely and without fear. HRRG underscores that violence against media practitioners compromises Ghana’s democracy and the right to free expression as protected under the country’s Constitution.

HRRG calls on law enforcement authorities, including the Inspector General of Police, to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident.

The group insists that those responsible must be brought to justice without delay to serve as a deterrent against future attacks on journalists.
