Covid-19 Delta Variant: 36 new deaths making 821 deaths as of July 25
The wave of the Covid-19 Delta Variant that is being transmitted within Ghanaian communities needs to be dealt with before it gets out of hands.
From the periodic statistics given by the Disease Surveillance Department of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the deaths have risen from 799 as of Sunday, July 11 to 819 as of Sunday, July 25.
According to the President, during the Coronavirus update No 26,
“our total number of active cases stands at four thousand and ninety-four (4,094). A total of one million, three hundred and ninety-four thousand, five hundred and forty (1,394,540) tests have been conducted, out of which one hundred and one thousand, one hundred and seventy (101,170) persons have been infected with the virus, and ninety-six thousand, two hundred and fifty-five (96,255) persons have recovered.”
The current hot spots in the country are Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Metropolitan.
“Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Metropolitan areas remain the hotspots of infections.” he indicated while speaking to the nation.
President Nana Addo added that the current situation is alarming per the information from the Ghana Health Service with regards to the decline in the rate of recovery of those infected.
He furthered that Ghanaians have let their guard down and there is the need to safeguard the safety of the nation and its people.
Compliance to covid-19 protocols and adherence to them is fallen nationwide in the wake of the deadly Covid-19 Delta Variant.
“It is extremely troubling to note that the high compliance rate with mask-wearing has fallen alarmingly.” the president said while addressing the nation.
He, therefore, called on all to ensure the strict observation of all protocols.
